1. Apple vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar is one of the best quick remedies to get rid of a stuffy nose, it works to break up the accumulated mucus, and it contains potassium, which in turn helps in treating a runny nose.

   All you have to do is eat fresh garlic cloves, or boil (2-3) garlic cloves in a bowl containing one cup of water, preferably adding ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder to increase the effectiveness of the mixture, then eat it twice daily.

 

3. Spicy tomato drink:

   This remedy is excellent for getting rid of a stuffy nose and improving the flow of mucus through the nasal passages. It contains healthy ingredients such as; Tomato juice, garlic and lemon.

 To prepare it, boil the following ingredients; Mix it in a bowl: (1 cup of tomato juice, 2 chopped garlic cloves, 3 teaspoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and a pinch of salt).

Drink this hot drink twice daily.

 

4. Steam inhalation:

   Steam inhalation is another popular remedy for immediate relief of nasal congestion, a natural repellent of mucus and respiratory obstructions.

    You can use any of these remedies (2-4) times a day: They are as follows

  •    Put a towel over the head to help trap the steam, but the head should be kept away from the water one arm distance, add some mint leaves or cayenne to the boiling water, then inhale the steam for 10 minutes.
• Add 1 tablespoon of carom seeds to boiling water and inhale the steam for 10 minutes.
 Steam inhalation is also not generally recommended for pregnant women, those with central nervous system disorders, high blood pressure, or heart patients, as well as for children under 12 years of age due to the risk of scalding.

 

5. Washing the nose with saline solution:

You can use a saline solution to treat nasal congestion, as it helps remove mucus and irritants from the nasal passages and gives you excellent results.

 To prepare the saline solution: Mix one teaspoon of non-iodized salt, an iodized salt that can irritate the nasal passages, in two cups of warm distilled water.

Here are the two most common ways to irrigate the nose with saline:

 

First method:

Neti pot: It is a funnel-shaped container that can be bought at pharmacies that people frequently use to wash the sinuses and expel mucus and fluid. Tilt your head back and pour the mixture directly into one nostril. Allow it to exit through the other nostril. Repeat this process with the other nostril.

Second method:

Put the saline solution in the palm of your hand after washing it well and inhale it through one of the nostrils. Repeat any of these methods once or twice daily for a few days.

 

6. Chili:


Hot peppers are very effective in relieving nasal congestion and sinusitis. Capsaicin, which is extracted from hot peppers, stimulates a runny nose to get rid of accumulated mucus and allergens in the sinuses.

 

Add half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder to a tablespoon of honey and then take it several times a day. Another option is to use a cotton ball to clean the ears after adding a little pepper powder to it.

 

Then insert it carefully into the nose to induce sneezing and clear the sinuses, and you may feel at first burning, but it passes quickly Repeat this (2-3) times a day.

7. Use some antibiotics:

        It is a commonly used over-the-counter decongestant, consisting of eucalyptus oil and menthol that helps clear blockages and make breathing easy and comfortable.

      Gently apply the ointment to the throat, chest and back area before bedtime, or put a small amount of the ointment in boiling water, then inhale the steam created for a few minutes, repeat the process as needed.

 

8. Ginger:

     It is another effective and easy remedy for nasal congestion, as it has high antioxidants that help inhibit mucus secretion and maintain nasal ciliary movement.

 To achieve effective results, boil two cups of water over a low heat, and add to it a tablespoon of fresh ginger slices. Leave it for 5 to 10 minutes until it softens. Then, mix it with fresh lemon juice and raw honey. Take two to three cups of the warm mixture daily.


9. Turmeric (Turmeric):

      Turmeric acts as an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory and helps reduce swelling and inflammation of the nasal passages, making it another effective home remedy for nasal congestion. You can mix a teaspoon of turmeric while you boil a glass of milk.

    Leave it on the stove for 5 minutes and then eat it daily with a little honey.

You can mix two tablespoons of turmeric with one tablespoon of lemon juice, honey and a pinch of cayenne pepper and take it once or twice daily.
